Born in Chicago, Illinois, Susan took her fine arts training at The American Academy of Art. In 1974, Susan and her husband, Bob, moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and founded an advertising and graphic arts studio. Their clients included 3M, Gillette, Quaker Oats, General Mills, Brown & Bigalow, Hoyle, Trend Enterprises and Pillsbury. They moved to Brown County in 1991 and Sue now spends her free time exploring the countryside for subjects that quietly say “Paint me.” Sadly, Bob passed away in 2002. In 2012, having met Phil Smith a few years before, they decided it was time to tie the knot. Sue retired from her full time job of 9 years and is now pursuing her love of the outdoors, exploring and gathering references for more paintings. Her work can be seen at the Brown County Craft Gallery.
